We organized our notebooks and added our first WTL in the writing section. The sections of the notebook are as follows: Table of Contents, etc.
WTL #1: Tell me everything you have learned/remember about MLA format. Once you have written down everything you can remember, write down why you think we use MLA format to write our papers.
"I know that MLA formatting is not the best option for writing, but it is what we use in English. When you get into any other field of study, ironically, including education, the MLA format turns to APA, or AP, or Chicago, or Turabian, or any of the other formats used in higher education. I know how to cite sources. I know how to look up how to format sources in a works cited page. I know how to format a front page. The importance of MLA is not the format itself, but rather the consistency. I need all my students to produce individual work, but the form needs to be the same so I can see their personality shine through their writing. I wonder how much MLA the students are going to remember once they have had the opportunity to do a WTL about it." - Ms. Morey's WTL response.
